
TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana Plc appoints Mercy Samson as a Director
MERCY SAMSON
Mercy SAMSON is Senior Executive with over twenty (20) years’ experience incorporate matters including Legal, Corporate Governance, Company Secretarial, Human Resource, Corporate Communications and External Affairs.
She began her career in private practice with a firm of Solicitors in the UK in 1990 where she worked till 1996 when she joined ELF Oil Ghana Limited as a Legal Officer. In 2003, she was appointed as Legal Manager and Company Secretary for Total Ghana Limited and was part of the Legal team for the ELF/Total acquisition project. In 2006, she also played a significant role in the Mobil/Total Acquisition project which resulted in the new company Total Petroleum Ghana Limited. During her tenure at Total, she occupied several roles such as the Human Resource & Communications Manager, Audit Manager and Legal & External Affairs Manager. She also held the position of Company Secretary for Total Petroleum Ghana Ltd for several years and in her dual role as Legal & External Affairs Manager was clothed with oversight responsibilities on corporate governance matters in the Company some of which related to the Company’s Joint Venture Companies with local partners. She opted for early retirement from Total in 2020.
Mercy’s experience covers Corporate Governance, Mergers and Acquisitions, insurance portfolio management, statutory and regulatory compliance matters for oil marketing companies, human resource management and corporate communications.
She holds a LLB Hons from Leicester Polytechnic (De Montford University, UK). and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1989 and the Ghana Bar in 1992. She has also participated in many notable career development courses over the years including Corporate Governance training organised by the Institute of Directors.
Until her appointment as Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC, Mercy was the Company’s Secretary.
