KCB Group Plc (Kenya) appoints Mr. Paul Russo as its new CEO

OUTGOING GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Board of KCB Group Plc hereby announces that Mr. Joshua Oigara will be leaving the Group following the end of his contract. Joshua has led the group as Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for nearly ten years.

The Board acknowledges Joshua’s immense contribution in driving the growth of the Group business over the decade. He has been instrumental in deepening financial inclusion and social impact across East Africa.

Joshua will remain for a period of time to support the transition.

The Board acknowledges Joshua’s role in positioning the Group as a leading financial institution in the region and wishes him well in his future endeavors.

INCOMING GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

At the same time the Board of KCB Group Plc has appointed Mr. Paul Russo as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective May 25, 2022. The appointment follows a competitively run selection process that kicked off in March 2022.

Paul, who takes over from Mr. Joshua Oigara, brings a wealth of experience in banking, operational management, people management, strategy, and a sharp business acumen. His most recent role in the group has been that of Managing Director National Bank of Kenya and the KCB Group Regional Business Director.

He has over 20 years of work experience spanning executive and key roles including as Group HR Director.

He holds an MBA from Strathmore University Business School and a Bachelor of Business Management from Moi University. He also holds a Senior Executive Program for Africa Certificate from Harvard Business School and a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Human Resources (Kenya).

The Board congratulates Paul for the appointment and is confident that he will ably steer the Group’s future growth ambitions.
