AECI Mining Explosives PLC formerly (AEL Mining Services) is a major producer and supplier of explosives, initiating systems and services in Zambia; providing the majority of products needed by customers in the Central African region engaged in copper and cobalt, underground and surface open pit mining. The company has a network of regional manufacturing facilities that produce bulk emulsion explosives for surface and underground mining; the main factory based in Kitwe, otherwise known as the Zambian Copperbelt. AEL Mining Services distributes its products to major players in countries like Malawi, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo from strategically-located storage and distribution facilities in the Katanga Province in Zambia.
