Carbacid (CO²) Investments Plc is a leading producer of natural food grade carbon dioxide in East Africa. The company extracts carbon dioxide gas from natural underground reservoirs which are purified on site to produce natural, certified food grade (99.99% purity) for use in carbonate water, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. The CO² is Halaal certified. Compressed carbon dioxide sold by Carbacid Investments Limited is used by the industry sector for MIG welding and applications for fire extinguishers. Formerly a sub-division of BEA Sawmills Limited, the company was founded in 1975 through various mergers and acquisitions and renamed Carbacid Investments Limited. It supplies major drinks bottlers and breweries in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Southern Sudan, Somaliland, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda and Burundi.
